We charge by the finished minute.
We charge $30.00 per finished minute.
Each minute contains approximately 12 photos at approximately 4 to 5 seconds each.
With this information it is easy for you to come to an approximate final cost. We say approximate due to the fact that the graphics used and video (if included) can increase the final length of the production.
So, if your finished production is 10 minutes long you would have a cost of $300.00, a 15 minute video would be $450.00, a 20 minute video would be $600.00 and so on. Simply multiply the length of the video by $30.00 and you have the price. You figure out what the approximate price will be, based on how many photos you have.
If each minute contains approx. 12 photos, then a 10 minute video would contain approx. 120 photos. Again, easy to do the math and figure out what your montage might cost.
Simply add up the number of photos that you have and divide them by 12 (300 photos divided by 12 = 25) that 25 will be the number of approx. minutes you can expect your video to be.
Now multiply that number by $30.00
(25 X $30.00 = $750.00) to find that a video containing approx. 300 photos will run approx. 25 minutes in length and cost approx. $750.00.
These types of videos are very labor and time intensive. We ask that you get your photos into us as soon as possible.
We WILL do RUSH orders for the "In Memory" videos as we realize that time is of great importance. We often have had to do these by working through the night non stop until they are ready for the viewing service. (SEE NOTE BELOW)
If you have any further questions about the pricing or any other details, please feel free to contact us at anytime!
NOTE: There is a RUSH CHARGE for any jobs that are dropped off at the last minute! If you wish to have a photo montage produced you must get your photos, music, graphic titles choices (what you may wish to say on the video) and any other material in to us a minimum of two weeks (4 or more weeks are preferred) prior to the date that you wish to have the finished production. If you wait until the last minute and get your items to us with little time left to produce it, then we are forced to drop all other work and go without sleep in order to finish your production. No sleep hurts, dropped business cost us and somebody has to pay!
We DO make it a practice to do the impossible for you and get these done in the 11th hour, but there is a charge for this. Just as you might pay an extra fee to overnight a package. These productions take a LARGE amount of time to produce and require MANY hours for each finished minute of video that you see. This translates into impossibly long hours without sleep to achieve this, if you turn the items into us late.
Depending on our schedule here, anything that is turned in to us with less than two weeks left until you need it is subject to this extra fee (if our schedule permits, we may even waive the extra fee in this time slot). Anything that is turned into us with only 7 or less days left will certainly have the extra fee added to it WITHOUT FAIL. The fee to expedite a photo montage production does NOT apply to our "In Memory Of" video productions, as no one can know in advance when they will need this type of production for a Viewing or Funeral. The rest of you should be able to plan in advance.
The fee to expedite your photo montage works as follows:
If your total finished production is 10 minutes or less in length then you will be charged and additional fee of $150.00 on top of the rate quoted above. This is in addition to any extra copies that you may desire (there is a fee for any additional copies, your production includes TWO copies at the normal price).
If your total finished production is from 10 to 20 minutes in length then you will be charged and additional fee of $300.00 on top of the rate quoted above. This is in addition to any extra copies that you may desire (there is a fee for any additional copies, your production includes TWO copies at the normal price).
If your total finished production is from 20 to 30 minutes in length then you will be charged and additional fee of $450.00 on top of the rate quoted above. This is in addition to any extra copies that you may desire (there is a fee for any additional copies, your production includes TWO copies at the normal price).
This formula is repeated for each additional increase in time.
If this seems excessive, just imagine having to go with no sleep for 48 hours or more to make your dream a reality. We would much rather NOT charge you anything extra at all and instead have your production done on a normal time schedule, rather than suffering for our art. We don't like to charge anything extra at all. PLEASE GET YOUR ITEMS INTO US AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
Additionally, if you give us a lot of badly destroyed photos such as photos that have ink, cracks, tears, paint, tape or any other foreign substance on them that requires us to do a lot of restorative work on them (once they are captured) then this too may incur an additional charge. We normally will do a few of these without any extra charge, but often there are either too many or there are those that simply require a lot of time to fix. In this case, time is money and we are forced to charge more for this. Best solution??? Try to give us quality photos! Of course if you have a few that you simply cannot be without, we will do our best to make them look as good as new. We can not work miracles, but you would be pleasantly surprised to see just how much we can renew this type of photo. The actual photo will NOT be renewed, it will only be done on the captured image that you will see on the screen. Also, the same applies to photos that require color correction. This often goes un-noticed on your video. We recommend looking through your photos after you get your video and see just how many now look much better on the video then in your hand.
The last thing to keep in mind is this, if you are in a habit of taking photos with your camera turned sideways or you like to take photos where the subject's heads are cut off, cut part way off or just RIGHT to the edge of the photo, first of all . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . STOP DOING THAT. ;-)
Take your photos with the camera held properly and FRAME your subject within the normal portion of the shot. If the crowd is too large, then back up or use a wide angle lens. Leave a margin of open space around your subject. Don't have the subject's head right at the edge of the photo. On a normally sized TV screen, these are bad enough and require cropping and framing (the black border that you may see around these shots). On some of the larger widescreen formatted TVs, they will often have a mode that will take a normal resolution and FORCE it to fit into a widescreen mode. What this actually does is zoom in on the video that we have given you. Therefore cutting off the heads even MORE! We do try to over compensate for such screens though and that requires even more cropping and framing.
However, if you already have these types of photos, then you must be made aware that they will require a great deal of cropping and framing to make them look pleasing on your video. Just as above, if there are only a few like this then we will do them at no additional charge. If you have MANY of them like that, then there will be an additional charge based on the number that are this way. Again, time IS money (and lack of sleep) and we have to charge for this.
All that said, if you give your photos and any other items needed to us in a timely fashion and you have picked fairly good quality photos, then you will NOT see any additional charge. Normally, I would have to say that 90% of these productions are simply charged the $30.00 per finished minute price as originally stated above. However, the other 10 % do end up paying more for their productions. Again, though with the "In Memory Of" videos, we waive all extra fees other than for extra copies. These are often tough enough on us emotionally, even without knowing the deceased or their families, that we are more than glad to help them in their time of need.
